The MINExpo 2016 will take place from Sept. 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, bringing together an international audience in various regions of the mining industry. Taking place every four years, the show provides an opportunity for visitors to learn about the latest developments in the metals, materials, and energy in the global mining industry.
Schedule Overview
Registration opens the day before the show at 10 a.m., and the international business center opens at noon. On the first day of the show, registration will open at 7 a.m., preceded by a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the outdoor-lot exhibits at 8:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., visitors are invited to attend the opening session in Room S223 of the South Building.
The second day of the expo will include 10 educational sessions. Starting at 8 a.m., visitors can choose between five sessions focusing on maintenance, processing, research, safety, and surface mining. These go until 10 a.m. The second round of sessions will start at 10:15. Visitors can attend sessions focusing on automation, markets, national issues impacting U.S. mining (presented by the National Mining Association), underground mining, or U.S. mining projects. These will be followed by a Sentinels of Safety and NIOSH Awards Luncheon at 12:30 p.m. in Room S223.
The final day will include five more educational sessions at 8 a.m. touching on automation, international projects, reclamation, safety, and underground mining. The final five sessions will focus on bulk-materials handling, coal, exploration, surface mining, and water at 10 a.m. All abstracts and details about the sessions can be viewed at www.minexpo.com/schedule-at-a-glance.
Various special events and tours will also be taking place during the show. These include a Black Canyon river raft tour, a NASCAR Richard Petty Ride-Along, a Mob Museum Tour, a Red Rock Jeep Treckker Tour, a Las Vegas City tour and Neon Museum visit, and a Hoover Dam Tour. Registration, Housing, and Exhibitor Registration
Registration is available online. General registration is $200 and includes exhibits, the opening session, and all education sessions. Badges must be picked up at the registration areas. Students can attend the show for free, but must also register online. An online Matchmaker Program helps visitors find exhibitors with products and services of interest so that they can create a schedule before the show.
There is no more indoor space available for reservation by exhibitors, but a limited number of outdoor booths are still available. Go to www.minexpo.com/exhibiting-overview to register as an exhibitor. Members of the National Mining Association can receive up to a 40% discount on Exhibit space.
The MINExpo hotel block is now closed, but onPeak, the official housing partner, will continue to assist exhibitors and attendees in making hotel reservations on a space-available basis at MINExpo hotels.
