Hydraulic hoses and tubing are fatigue items with a finite service life—eventually these wear items will fail. This overview provides key design and upgrade guidelines that will help OEMs and site managers (who may have to replace hose assemblies in the field) extend the life of their hydraulic hose assemblies as well as protect operators from catastrophic hose failures resulting from bursts or pinhole leaks. We’ll cover proper hose routing, abrasion-resistant covers, and other protective devices including hose guards, sleeves, plugs, and caps.
