Emerson AVENTICS Flow Sensors Monitor Air Consumption in Pneumatic Systems

Sept. 25, 2023
The AVENTICS Series AF2 Flow Sensors can detect leaks and other performance aspects in pneumatic systems to ensure they operate in an efficient manner.

Emerson’s AVENTICS Series AF2 Flow Sensors monitor air consumption in pneumatic systems, helping to reduce compressed air consumption and improve energy efficiency.

Features of the AF2 Flow Sensors include:

  • flow, pressure and temperature measurement
  • IIoT enabled
  • compact size for reduced space claim
  • high-flow model benefits larger systems.

Performance Monitoring Reduces Downtime

The AVENTICS Series AF2 Flow Sensor's ability to detect leaks in a pneumatic system as soon as they occur enables personnel to quickly address the issue. This reduces downtime to keep an operation productive while also helping to reduce consumption of compressed air, leading to efficiency gains.

A high-flow version of the sensor is available to monitor larger air lines and systems, enabling packaging and other manufacturing facilities to ensure optimized energy consumption across an entire operation.

The sensor is capable of measuring flow, pressure and temperature, enabling manufacturers to better monitor the performance of their machines. As the sensor is IIoT (industrial internet of things) enabled, the measurements it monitors can be communicated to the cloud, a centralized computer or other devices to help personnel keep track of machine performance and any potential maintenance issues which may arise.

I/O-link and Ethernet communication options are available with the sensor to accommodate whichever a customer uses at its facility. Additional features include an integrated data logger, color and rotatable OLED display as well as easy assembly and integration into maintenance units; the sensor can also be used as a stand-alone device.

Specifications of the AF2 Flow Sensor include:

  • pressure range of 0-16 bar (0-232 psi)
  • flow ranges from 5-17.7 l/min., depending on size
  • repeatability of ± 1.5% of the measured value
  • temperature range of -20 to 60 C (-4 to 140 F)
  • IP65 and IP67 protection ratings, with approved connection cable.
