Continental's Shop in a Box is designed to provide an all-in-one solution to ease the creation of a hydraulic hose assembly. It contains a crimper and all the necessary accessories to produce Continental hose assemblies.
Shop in a Box includes:
- 96 x 36 in. work table
- crimper and die storage
- HS 150 hose saw
- fitting cabinet and bins
- 24 in. hose reel.
Ease of Hose Selection and Crimping
With Shop in a Box, customers get all necessary tools for creating hydraulic hose assemblies in a single packaged solution. This eliminates the need to get parts from multiple suppliers, helping to create a faster and easier hose assembly process.
Four crimper models are available to suit specific customer needs:
- PC125-RCD - capability for (-20) B2 Fittings and (-16) SG Fittings
- PC150 - capability for (1-1/2 in.) B2 Fittings and (1-1/4 in.) SG Fittings
- PC150HD - capability for 1/4 in. through 2 in. I.D., 2-braid hose and 1-1/4 in. 6-spiral hose with all coupling end styles and most bent tubes.
- PC200i - capability for 1/4 in. through 2 in. I.D., 2-braid hose and 2 in. 6-spiral hose with all coupling end styles and most bent tubes.
The PC200i crimper model includes a CrimpIQ tablet which is connected to the cloud and aids with the selection of appropriate hoses and fittings via Continental's CrimpCloud technology. Hose fabricators can select their desired hose name, fitting and size, and the crimp specs are then automatically provided. This helps to ease the process and eliminates the need for further adjustments or printed manuals.
A PRO Mode enables customers to store and save the crimp specs they use most often, helping to further speed up the assembly process.
Continental has added a traceability feature to its crimpers which allows customers to print labels containing product information that can then be affixed to a hose. A QR code is included on the label for scanning when a replacement is needed; it provides product information and history from the CrimpCloud to quickly find the appropriate replacement. The date of assembly is also printed on the label to help better determine when it may be necessary to reorder parts.
Continental exhibited Shop in a Box at the International Fluid Power Exposition (IFPE) 2023 and says it drew a lot of interest from customers. "Shop in a Box was the #1 most asked about product at our booth," says Ryan Gocher, Head of Portfolio, Continental IFS. "Customers love its simplicity and ability to manufacture a Continental hose assembly without having to go to multiple vendors to get what they need."
