The 31st edition of bauma, billed as the biggest construction trade fair in the world, will bring together manufacturers, trade visitors, and experts from across the globe. The triannual international trade fair for construction machinery will take place in Munich, Germany on April 11-17, 2016 at the Messe München trade-fair center.

In 2013, more than 3,420 exhibitors from 57 countries displayed a broad range of construction machines, vehicles, and equipment, building materials, and mining machines. To accommodate even more exhibitors this year, the space was expanded to 605,000 square meters (check out a partial list of exhibitors below). The show is split into four different sectors:

All-around construction sites: Construction vehicles and machines such as lifting appliances and conveyors will highlight this sector. Construction equipment, tools, and special systems will be on display for applications including concrete and mortar handling, processing, formwork, scaffoldings, and site installation.

Mining, extraction and processing of raw materials: Here, raw-material extracting machines, coke-oven equipment, and mining machines will take center stage. Exhibitors will be available to discuss methods for handling raw-material and mineral processing.

Production of building materials: This sector targets cement, lime, and gypsum compounds for building materials. Exhibits will include machines and systems for producing concrete products and pre-fabricated components, along with machines and plants for producing asphalt, pre-mixed dry mortar, plaster, and screed. Representatives will be on hand to answer questions and provide details on machines and plants that produce lime sandstone and products that use power-plant residue.

Components and service suppliers: The main features in this space will be transmission engineering, fluid technology, and power-generation units, in addition to accessories and wear parts. Exhibitors will field questions about test-and-measurement methods and process-control engineering, and offer explanations on available services. Other topics will include communication, navigation, and job safety.

THINK BIG! Career Event for Students, Educators

Supplementary to the massive exhibition is bauma’s second THINK BIG! career event for a target audience ranging from grade-school kids to college students.. Previously launched in 2013, it provides students that are interested in the construction industry with information about educational programs, training, careers, and the industry overall. It takes place in Hall B0.

The event offers a networking opportunity with representatives from 16 top-rated companies in the world. In addition to live shows, it features hands-on machinery and equipment, and an extended range of vocational colleges and universities in the new “Vocational College live!” section, where teachers and attending students offer insight about valuable courses at their institutions.

The event also provides resources for teachers from lesson plans and a study brochures for secondary-school students. The event is free to all schoolchildren; as of January 2016, more than 12,000 schoolchildren from 230 schools are registered to attend.

Also, get a quick and fun look at what to see by watching, “bauma—The Movie” online. It features a  nimble visitor who makes the rounds on bauma’s extensive exhibit in less than five minutes. Please don’t try this at the show!
