Ready, Set, SNOW: Putting Hydraulics to the Test in the Snocross Series

Nov. 21, 2017
Snowmobiles utilize robust hydraulic braking and steering systems that not only help keep racers safe and in control of their vehicles, but also can help them win!

The largest snowmobile racing series in the world kicks off this Thanksgiving weekend with hydraulics supplier, PIRTEK USA, acting as a corporate sponsor for the fourth year in a row.  From Nov. 24-26, thousands of fans will show up to the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series National in Duluth, MN to watch some of the fastest and robust mobile hydraulic machinery scale snowy terrains. Fans can follow the entire AMSOIL Snocross series as it runs over the winter, finishing up with the RAM Trucks Snocross Grand Finale on March 16-18 in Lake Geneva, WI.

“We look forward to Snocross season every year,” says Glenn Duncan, executive director of PIRTEK USA. “These drivers are first-rate competitors and they provide a tremendous amount of thrills and entertainment for the fans. We enjoy our role as sponsor.”

Snowmobiles use hydraulics in their brake and shock lines to maximize safety on slippery terrain and reduce shock and vibrations.  Hydraulic front blades and rear tillers are also used for steering. In addition, track groomers used at the competition will be hydraulically driven, and even the semis that haul the Snocross equipment use hydraulic doors and lifts.

PIRTEK, a provider of hydraulic and industrial hose replacement sales and services will have its branding displayed on all the snowmobiles in the PIRTEK Snocross National, presented by Jimmy John’s. PIRTEK commercials will also appear on the track’s screen, signage, and other displays, and the Snocross track groomers will display PIRTEK’s logo as well during the entire series.

PIRTEK also created its “Gary the Groomer,” digital media character for the occasion. Featured on the Snocross.com website with his own Twitter handle, @GaryTheGroomer, Gary will also be providing official updates to track conditions on livestream and social media during the event days.
